"Older people don't want to hear what I have to say or teach me anything real."
How it sounds in your head: Adults talk AT you, not WITH you. They lecture. They don't actually listen or care what you think. It feels like they're just waiting for you to become them, not actually investing in who you are now.
"I said, 'Age should speak, and multitude of years should teach wisdom.' But there is a spirit in man, and the breath of the Almighty gives him understanding. Great men are not always wise, nor do the aged always understand justice."
-- Job 32:7-9Enemy isolation lie designed to cut you off from wisdom, mentorship, and intergenerational relationship.
You've been dismissed in conversations. Adults interrupt you or give canned answers. They don't ask real questions about your life. It feels transactional, not relational.
Paul called Timothy 'my beloved son' and poured into him relationally, not just informationally. He didn't just lecture—he shared his life, entrusted him with churches, wrote letters of encouragement. Timothy went from young mentee to leading entire regions.
I REFUSE the lie that older people don't want to hear me or invest in me. IT IS WRITTEN that age should speak, BUT the Spirit gives understanding. I need intergenerational relationship, and God is connecting me with spiritual fathers and mothers who will pour into me RELATIONALLY. IT IS WRITTEN that iron sharpens iron. I am not isolated. The BARAK blessing flows through generations—I receive from those before me and I carry it forward. I honor wisdom and I offer fresh perspective. There is divine exchange happening between generations in my life.
The Father is orchestrating divine connections with older believers who will champion you, invest in you, listen to you, and call out what He's placed in you. He's running toward you with spiritual parents who see you, not projects.
