"Nobody will want me because my family is broken or poor"

How it sounds in your head: Other kids have nice houses, intact families, parents who are together. My family is divorced, broken, or poor. Who would want to be connected to this mess? I come with too much baggage.

2 Corinthians 8:9

"For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich."

-- 2 Corinthians 8:9
Enemy whispers: Nobody will want you because your family is broken or poor. BUT IT IS WRITTEN: 2 Corinthians 8:9 - 'Though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become RICH.' Jesus chose POVERTY to bring you into WEALTH. Ruth was a poor widow from a cursed nation with nothing to offer—Boaz, the WEALTHIEST man in town, pursued HER. Gomer was broken and unfaithful—Hosea bought her back and loved her anyway. Your family situation doesn't determine your value. The wealthiest man in Bethlehem chased the poorest widow. That's how God operates.
Quick Truth: LIE: Nobody wants broken/poor family. TRUTH: Through His poverty you're rich—Ruth poor widow pursued by wealthiest man Boaz. (2 Cor 8:9)

Enemy using family shame and economic status to create false ceiling on relational value and future possibilities.

Why this feels true:

Pre-teens are becoming aware of socioeconomic differences and family structures. Seeing intact, wealthy families triggers deep shame about not measuring up or bringing 'baggage.'

Ruth 2:1-13
Ruth

Ruth was a poor Moabite widow from a CURSED nation, gleaning leftover grain just to survive. Boaz was the wealthiest landowner in Bethlehem. He didn't wait for her to clean up or prosper first—he pursued her, protected her, provided for her, and married her, putting her in the MESSIANIC LINE.

Speak this out loud

I REFUSE the lie that nobody will want me because my family is broken or poor. IT IS WRITTEN that through Christ's poverty I become RICH. My family status doesn't determine my value—Ruth was a poor foreign widow and the wealthiest man pursued HER. IT IS WRITTEN in Deuteronomy 28:13 that I am the head and not the tail, above and not beneath. I am Abraham's seed under the BARAK blessing that made Jacob wealthy even when he had NOTHING and worked for a cheating boss. I come from WEALTH because I come from CHRIST. My past doesn't write my future. I receive favor that surpasses human logic, provision that bypasses family status, and relationships that choose me for WHO I AM IN CHRIST, not where I came from.

But God actually:

Your Father doesn't see you as damaged goods because of family brokenness—He sees you as the PRIZE He paid for with His Son's blood. Like Ruth pursued by the wealthiest man despite having nothing, your value isn't in your background; it's in whose you are.
