"My singleness proves I'm not submitted enough or spiritually mature enough."
How it sounds in your head: Maybe if I were more like Proverbs 31, more gentle, more quiet, more submitted, God would trust me with a husband. Maybe I'm still too independent, too strong-willed. Maybe this is discipline for not being moldable enough.
"For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him."
-- 2 Corinthians 5:21Religious lie that makes marriage a reward for achieving feminine perfection and submission performance.
Every sermon on biblical womanhood lists qualities you feel you lack. Books on preparing for marriage suggest singleness is a season to 'fix' yourself. It feels like God is withholding relationship until you become a better version of yourself.
A prostitute, living in active sin when the spies arrived. She didn't clean up first, didn't go through years of discipleship. She simply believed and acted, and IMMEDIATELY she and her family were saved. She married Salmon, entered the Messianic line, and is honored in Hebrews 11 as a hero of faith.
I REFUSE the lie that my singleness is evidence of spiritual immaturity or insufficient submission. IT IS WRITTEN in 2 Corinthians 5:21 that I AM the righteousness of God in Christ—not becoming, not almost, but AM. I am not working toward worthiness; I am already made righteous by His blood. IT IS WRITTEN that there is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. God is not withholding relationship as punishment or discipline. I am under the BARAK blessing, favored not by my performance but by His grace. I am fully loved, fully approved, fully qualified by Jesus. I receive His gifts NOW.
The Father doesn't see you as insufficiently submitted or spiritually immature—He sees you as righteous, beloved, complete in Christ. He's not waiting for you to become perfect; He's already declared you perfect in His Son and is inviting you into the fullness of His goodness today.
