"No one will love me once they see how broken my family is."
How it sounds in your head: Your family is a disaster—divorce, addiction, abuse, dysfunction. Normal families don't look like yours. Once people see where you come from, they'll understand why you're so messed up and they'll bail.
"A father of the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in His holy habitation. God sets the solitary in families; He brings out those who are bound into prosperity."
-- Psalm 68:5-6Enemy using generational shame and family dysfunction to convince you that your origin story disqualifies you from love.
You've hidden your family situation from everyone because the shame feels unbearable. If brokenness is hereditary, you must be broken too—and who loves broken?
Jephthah was the son of a prostitute, rejected by his family, driven out as 'not legitimate.' God chose him ANYWAY to deliver Israel and made him a judge. One day, rejected outcast. Next day, national leader. Family origin didn't matter.
I REFUSE the lie that my broken family makes me unlovable. IT IS WRITTEN that God is a Father to the fatherless and sets the solitary in families—my worth is NOT determined by my family's dysfunction. I am a NEW CREATION in Christ; old things have passed away. My identity is not 'son of brokenness' but SON OF THE MOST HIGH GOD. IT IS WRITTEN that I am chosen, royal, holy, belonging to God. I receive the BARAK blessing of Abraham: I am blessed in the city and the field, and generational curses are BROKEN by the blood of Jesus. I am deeply, permanently, extravagantly LOVED.
The Father doesn't see your family tree and downgrade His love—He ADOPTS you into HIS family, calls you SON, and seats you at the table with full inheritance rights. You're not defined by where you came from; you're defined by whose you are.
