"My value was in raising kids and working—now I'm just taking up space."
How it sounds in your head: You were valuable when you were needed. When kids depended on you, when your job required you, when you contributed. Now you're just... here. Watching TV. Doing puzzles. What's the point? You're a burden, not a blessing.
"The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Those who are planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bear fruit in old age; they shall be fresh and flourishing."
-- Psalm 92:12-14Enemy lie equating value with productivity and utility instead of identity in Christ.
Her identity card read 'mom' and 'career woman' for 50 years, and both those roles are essentially complete. Nobody NEEDS her the way they used to, and she feels like furniture—present but not particularly noticed or valued.
Caleb was 85 years old when he said 'Give me this mountain'—demanding the hardest territory with giants still in it. He declared himself as strong at 85 as he was at 40, and he took the mountain and drove out the giants at an age when most are in assisted living.
I REFUSE the lie that my value ended with my productivity. IT IS WRITTEN that the righteous bear fruit in OLD AGE and are FRESH and FLOURISHING—not fading, not declining, FLOURISHING. My worth is not in what I produce but in who I AM in Christ, and I am His righteous branch bearing fruit right now. IT IS WRITTEN in Psalm 92:14 that old age is designed for FRESHNESS, and I walk in the Caleb anointing—at 85 he said GIVE ME THIS MOUNTAIN. I am BARAK blessed—the head and not the tail, above only and not beneath—and my value is intrinsic, not earned.
The Father sees you and doesn't see a retired worker—He sees a flourishing tree in His courts bearing fruit He planted you to produce RIGHT NOW. He's running toward you not with a gold watch and a rest home, but with MOUNTAINS—new territory that requires exactly your combination of wisdom and warrior spirit.
