"My value is only in what I produce and I'm producing nothing right now."
How it sounds in your head: Without a title, a paycheck, or productivity, who even am I? I'm just taking up space. My worth was in my work and now I have nothing to show.
"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast."
-- Ephesians 2:8-9World: Capitalist productivity worship that equates human value with economic output, erasing identity apart from work.
When people ask 'What do you do?' she has no answer, and the silence feels like proof she's worthless. LinkedIn shows everyone else accomplishing things while she's stuck in limbo, and it feels like being erased.
Came home jobless, broke, reeking of pig farm, having PRODUCED nothing but disaster. Father RAN to him, gave him robe (identity), ring (authority), sandals (sonship), and threw a party—full restoration in 15 minutes based on RELATIONSHIP, not resume.
I REFUSE the lie that my value is in my productivity. IT IS WRITTEN that I am saved by GRACE through faith, not by works, and my worth is in being His child, not in my job title. I am Abraham's seed, and Abraham's value wasn't in what he produced but in the COVENANT God made with him. IT IS WRITTEN that I am fearfully and wonderfully made, and unemployment doesn't unmake me. The Father is RUNNING toward me with the robe and ring, celebrating WHO I AM, not what I've accomplished lately.
The Father isn't waiting for you to prove your worth by landing a job—He's celebrating you RIGHT NOW like the prodigal's father did. Your identity is DAUGHTER, not employee, and that doesn't change when the paycheck stops.
