"My slow pace makes me too much of an inconvenience for activities."
How it sounds in your head: Everyone has to wait for you. They walk ahead and then stop, checking over their shoulder. Getting anywhere takes twice as long now. You see them checking their watches. They'd have more fun if you just stayed home.
"But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint."
-- Isaiah 40:31World's speed-worship lie that faster equals more valuable, making slow pace evidence of being inconvenient
Everything takes him longer—walking, eating, getting ready. Groups have to adjust their pace for him. He feels like a brake on everyone's momentum when they include him.
When Esau wanted Jacob to travel fast, Jacob said 'The children and flocks are my concern—if they're driven too hard one day, they'll die. I'll go at my own pace.' He refused to be rushed. God blessed his slow, careful pace with massive wealth.
I REFUSE the lie that my slow pace makes me an inconvenience. IT IS WRITTEN that those who wait on the Lord shall walk and not faint—God SUSTAINS my pace. Fast isn't better—STEADY is better. IT IS WRITTEN that I am blessed in my going out and coming in at EVERY pace. The BARAK blessing doesn't require speed—it blesses the journey at whatever pace I can maintain. I am not too slow. I am not an inconvenience. I am SUSTAINED. My pace is protected by God's promises. I walk and do not faint.
The Father isn't measuring your speed—He's walking BESIDE you at your exact pace. He's running toward you saying 'I'm not in a hurry—I've been sustaining your steps for 85 years and I'm savoring every one that's left.'
