"My sickness glorifies God by showing others how to suffer well."
How it sounds in your head: If I stay sick but keep praising God, people will see my faith and God will get glory. Maybe my healing isn't as important as my witness. Maybe I'm supposed to be the example of suffering with joy.
"When Jesus heard that, He said, 'This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it.'"
-- John 11:4Religious martyrdom glorifies enduring what Jesus already destroyed instead of demonstrating His resurrection power.
She's seen people applaud sick believers who 'handle it so well' and call them 'inspiring witnesses.' It makes her sickness feel noble and makes staying sick feel more spiritual than getting healed.
Disciples asked whose sin caused his blindness. Jesus said NEITHER—'that the works of God should be revealed in him'—then immediately HEALED him. Glory came through HEALING, not through decades of blindness.
I REFUSE the lie that staying sick glorifies God. IT IS WRITTEN that when Jesus said sickness would glorify God, He meant He was about to HEAL—God gets glory through resurrection power, not through disease management. My witness is the GOODNESS of God that leads people to repentance, and there's nothing good about sickness. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus went about doing good and healing ALL oppressed by the devil—healing is doing good. I am Abraham's seed with the BARAK blessing of health. My body healed and whole glorifies the Healer; my sickness only glorifies the enemy's temporary attack before I enforce Jesus' victory.
Your Father doesn't want you sick as a billboard for endurance—He wants you HEALED as a billboard for His goodness. He's not asking you to nobly suffer what Jesus already suffered for; He's inviting you to walk in the health He already purchased.
