"My siblings will get the inheritance because they stayed close; I moved away and lost my place."
How it sounds in your head: They're there for Sunday dinners, holidays, family events. You're in another state building your own life. You weren't there when Mom was sick. They've invested in the relationship and you've invested in your career. Presence matters, and you weren't present.
"The LORD has appeared of old to me, saying: 'Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.'"
-- Jeremiah 31:3Enemy—performance-based love and provision, measuring inheritance by proximity and emotional investment rather than covenant identity.
Geographic distance is measurable. Your siblings' presence at family events is documented. You missed important moments. Parents naturally favor those who are physically near. Inheritance decisions often reflect relational proximity.
Separated from family for over twenty years, living in Egypt, missed decades of family life, presumed dead for much of that time. Jacob gave him the DOUBLE PORTION—blessed Joseph's two sons Ephraim and Manasseh as his OWN sons—geographic distance didn't diminish inheritance, it INCREASED it.
I REFUSE the lie that physical distance affects spiritual inheritance. IT IS WRITTEN that God's love for me is EVERLASTING—not contingent on my ZIP code or attendance record. Joseph was in Egypt for decades and received the DOUBLE PORTION. The prodigal was in a FAR COUNTRY and the father was WATCHING for him, RAN to him, RESTORED him completely. IT IS WRITTEN in Psalm 139:7-10 that wherever I go, God is THERE. Geographic distance doesn't diminish the BARAK blessing. I am Abraham's seed by faith, not by family dinner attendance. My inheritance flows from COVENANT, not proximity. I am blessed coming IN and going OUT—whether I live next door or across the country.
The Father sees you building a life far from family and He's not counting the missed dinners—He's PROUD of your courage to go where He called you. Every night you weren't at the table, HE was at YOUR table. Distance doesn't make you less His; it makes the reunion sweeter, and the blessing isn't diminished by miles.
