"I'll lose my heavenly reward because I didn't finish strong enough in my final years."
How it sounds in your head: I'm not serving like I used to—can't get to church much, can't volunteer, sometimes can't even pray coherently. I'm finishing weak, not strong, and doesn't the Bible say something about finishing the race? I'm limping across the finish line and probably losing rewards.
"Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ."
-- Philippians 1:6Performance-based reward system that makes heaven a PAYCHECK instead of an INHERITANCE—Old Covenant thinking that ignores the finished work of Christ.
Your physical capacity IS declining, you legitimately CAN'T do what you once did, and you've heard sermons about 'finishing strong' that make physical strength sound like spiritual requirement.
Finished his life in EGYPT (not the promised land), in a BED (not standing strong), so WEAK he leaned on his staff to worship—and Hebrews 11:21 honors him BY FAITH, listing his FINAL ACT of worship while leaning on his staff. God honored his WEAK finish as an act of FAITH, not failure.
I REFUSE the lie that my physical weakness equals spiritual failure. IT IS WRITTEN that HE who began a good work in me will COMPLETE it—not that I must complete it in my own strength. My reward is based on CHRIST'S performance, not mine. IT IS WRITTEN that Jacob finished leaning on his staff in a foreign land and GOD HONORED IT. I am not losing rewards by declining in strength; I am GAINING glory by trusting in His GRACE. My finish line is covered by the same blood that saved me—the BARAK blessing doesn't expire when I can't get to church anymore.
While you're worried about limping across the finish line, Father is preparing to CARRY you across it in His arms, saying 'Daughter, I'm not grading your final sprint—I'm celebrating that you're MINE.' Jesus said 'It is FINISHED' so you don't have to—your reward was secured at the CROSS, not in your final performance.
