"My questions annoy people. I should just accept what I'm told and stop asking why."
How it sounds in your head: Teachers sigh when I raise my hand. My parents say 'because I said so' when I ask for reasons. People act like my questions are challenges instead of curiosity. Maybe I should just nod and pretend I understand so I don't irritate everyone.
"These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so."
-- Acts 17:11Religious spirit that fears questions because lies can't survive scrutiny.
You've been shut down mid-question with 'don't question God' or 'just have faith.' You've seen frustration on adults' faces when you ask 'but why?' You've learned that curiosity is treated like rebellion.
Gideon asked God for signs—TWICE. He literally said 'please don't be angry, but can I test you ONE MORE TIME?' God didn't rebuke him; He GAVE HIM THE SIGN because good fathers aren't threatened by sons who need proof.
I REFUSE the lie that my questions annoy God or people. IT IS WRITTEN that the Bereans were praised for SEARCHING and QUESTIONING everything they heard. My curiosity is a GIFT, not a problem. IT IS WRITTEN that we prove all things and hold fast what is good—I can't prove anything without asking questions. God isn't threatened by my 'why' because truth can handle investigation. The enemy wants me silent because questions expose lies. I don't need to stop asking—I need to ask BOLDER, knowing a good Father welcomes every question His son brings.
The Father doesn't sigh when you ask why—He SMILES because questions mean you're thinking, and thinkers change the world. He's never offended by your curiosity; He GAVE you curiosity so you'd seek HIM.
