"My prayers don't work anymore because I'm divorced—God won't hear me."
How it sounds in your head: I used to feel close to God. Now my prayers feel like they hit the ceiling. I wonder if divorce erected a wall between me and heaven. Maybe God only listens to people with successful marriages. My spiritual life feels dead.
"Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need."
-- Hebrews 4:16Teaching that sin creates separation from God post-cross, as if the veil was never torn and blood access depends on behavior.
The timing aligns—his prayer life went cold around the time of the divorce. He feels distant from God and assumes it's divine rejection. He's been taught that 'unconfessed sin blocks prayers,' and divorce feels like unconfessed failure.
Criminal, dying, no time to make anything right, couldn't get baptized or join a church or fix his life. One sentence to Jesus—'Remember me'—and Jesus said 'TODAY you will be with Me in Paradise.' Instant access. Zero qualifications. Just ask.
I REFUSE the lie that my divorce closed heaven's door to me. IT IS WRITTEN that I can come BOLDLY to the throne of grace to obtain mercy and find grace in time of need. My access to God is not based on marriage success—it's based on the BLOOD OF JESUS. IT IS WRITTEN that there is NO CONDEMNATION for those in Christ. The thief on the cross had full access with zero qualifications, and I have full access NOW. God hears me because I am HIS SON, not because my life is perfect.
The Father doesn't have His back turned to you because of divorce. He's LEANING IN, saying 'Come boldly—I've been waiting for you to talk to Me.' The throne room is not closed. The veil is TORN. Your divorce didn't sew it back up.
