"My poverty proves I never really trusted God with my finances."
How it sounds in your head: If I'd had real faith, He would have provided more. My lack is evidence of weak faith. I'm dying with proof I never believed Him enough.
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
-- Hebrews 11:1Religion—prosperity gospel that makes bank balance the faith-meter, turning her poverty into verdict on her spiritual maturity.
She's heard sermons connecting faith to financial outcome. Her nursing home room feels like report card showing she failed the faith test.
They went about in sheepskins and goatskins, destitute, afflicted, tormented—people of whom the world was not worthy. They DIED in faith without receiving promises, yet God commended their faith.
I REFUSE the lie that my poverty proves I lacked faith. IT IS WRITTEN that faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen—not the evidence in bank accounts. The heroes of Hebrews 11 died destitute yet God commended their faith. IT IS WRITTEN that they died not receiving promises, yet God was not ashamed to be called their God. My faith was proven BY trusting Him through poverty, not by accumulating wealth. I am the BRANCH connected to the Vine—my connection is FAITH, not my bank balance. The BARAK blessing operates through covenant, not through visible proof.
Your Father isn't measuring your faith by your bank balance—He's watching you trust Him when there's nothing visible to trust. That's the faith that makes Him proud. You didn't fail the faith test; you PASSED it by trusting Him with nothing.
