"If I had their money, I'd finally be happy and confident like they are."
How it sounds in your head: You see guys who seem confident and popular, and they all have money to spend. New shoes, going to concerts, eating out. If you had what they have, you wouldn't feel so insecure. Money would fix the uncomfortable feeling of being left out.
"And you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power."
-- Colossians 2:10World system says worth equals wallet size, trying to sell you a counterfeit confidence that only comes from knowing whose you are.
The correlation seems obvious—kids with money seem happier and more confident. They don't stress about asking parents for twenty bucks or wearing the same jacket every day.
This guy was mega-rich, chief tax collector, but so insecure he climbed a tree just to see Jesus. Money didn't fix his emptiness. One encounter with Jesus brought instant joy and transformation—he gave half his wealth away because he found something better.
I REFUSE the lie that money equals confidence. IT IS WRITTEN: I am COMPLETE in Christ, not incomplete until my bank account grows. My confidence isn't built on what I spend—it's built on who I am in Him. IT IS WRITTEN: I am blessed coming in and going out, head and not tail, above and not beneath. That's my identity regardless of my current financial situation. Money is a tool, not my source. Jesus is my source and in Him I already have everything I need.
Your Father isn't waiting for you to get money to be confident—He's already made you complete in Christ. He sees the insecurity and instead of saying 'earn your way out,' He's running toward you with the robe of righteousness and ring of authority that money can't buy.
