"My past failures prove I don't have the faith gene."

How it sounds in your head: I've tried believing before and nothing happened. I stepped out and fell flat. I claimed promises that didn't come through. Clearly I'm not wired for this faith-miracle stuff. Some people are spiritual athletes. I'm not. Track record proves it.

Isaiah 43:18-19

"Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert."

-- Isaiah 43:18-19
Enemy whispers: Your past failures prove you can't have faith. BUT IT IS WRITTEN: Isaiah 43:18-19 - 'Do NOT REMEMBER the former things... Behold, I will do a NEW THING.' God literally commands you NOT to let past experiences define His current movement. He's doing a NEW thing RIGHT NOW that isn't limited by what didn't happen before. Your past doesn't determine God's present. His nature does.
Quick Truth: LIE: Past failures = no faith. TRUTH: God says 'do NOT remember former things; I'm doing NEW.' Disciples failed, got equipped. (Isaiah 43:18-19)

Source: Enemy using your past as evidence that you're disqualified, making history define your future instead of God's nature.

Why this feels true:

You can count specific times you believed for something and didn't see it happen. The memory of past disappointment makes future faith feel like setting yourself up for another failure.

Matthew 17:16-20
Disciples' failed deliverance attempt

The disciples tried to cast out a demon and completely FAILED - publicly embarrassed in front of a crowd. Jesus didn't say 'you guys aren't cut out for this.' He said 'this kind comes out by prayer and fasting' - giving them the KEY for next time. Their failure became their training, not their disqualification.

Speak this out loud

I REFUSE the lie that past failures disqualify future faith. IT IS WRITTEN that God commands me NOT to remember former things because He's doing a NEW thing right now. The disciples failed at deliverance and Jesus didn't bench them - He equipped them. IT IS WRITTEN that I am Abraham's seed, and Abraham FAILED multiple times - lied about Sarah twice, tried to fulfill God's promise through Ishmael - yet God still called him friend and father of faith. The BARAK blessing doesn't get cancelled by failure. I am the righteousness of God in Christ, and my identity isn't defined by my track record but by His finished work.

But God actually:

The Father isn't reviewing your failure highlight reel before deciding if you qualify. He's the God who told the disciples 'here's how to do it next time' after their public failure, who blessed Abraham after repeated mistakes. Your past is not His present. His mercies are new this morning.
