"My pain level determines God's presence in my life."
How it sounds in your head: When the pain is bad, I feel abandoned. When it's manageable, I feel like God is near. Maybe if I were closer to Him, the pain would stop. Maybe He's distant because I'm failing somehow.
"I will never leave you nor forsake you."
-- Hebrews 13:5False teaching that equates circumstances with God's proximity, denying His unchanging presence.
Physical pain consumes attention and creates emotional distance that feels spiritual. Fluctuating symptoms create false correlation with God's nearness.
Thrown into a furnace heated seven times hotter than normal, certain death. King looked in and saw FOUR men walking in the fire unbound—the fourth looked like the Son of God. God didn't prevent the fire but JOINED them in it, and they came out without even the smell of smoke.
I REFUSE the lie that my pain measures God's presence. IT IS WRITTEN that He will NEVER leave me nor forsake me—not sometimes, not conditionally, NEVER. He is the same in the fire as outside the fire, in the pain as in the breakthrough. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego found Jesus IN the furnace, not after escaping it. My circumstances don't dictate His proximity—His Word does. IT IS WRITTEN that nothing shall separate me from the love of God in Christ Jesus, and pain is included in that 'nothing.'
The Father isn't waiting outside your pain for you to get better so He can come close. He's IN the pain with you right now, closer than your breath, holding you while simultaneously releasing the healing that's already yours through the cross—not earned, just received.
