"My pain is just something I have to endure now. This is my cross to bear."
How it sounds in your head: Jesus said take up your cross. This constant pain must be mine. Every believer suffers, and complaining about it shows weak faith. I need to just endure until I die—that's what saints do. Bearing this pain with dignity is my final test.
"But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed."
-- Isaiah 53:5Religious misinterpretation equating physical suffering with the cross of Christ, making pain a badge of spirituality.
Decades of church teaching praised martyrs and suffering saints, and his pain has become his identity. Visitors commend his 'strength' in enduring, reinforcing that acceptance of suffering is godly. Every prayer for relief seems to go unanswered, confirming this must be 'his cross.'
Bent over for 18 years, unable to straighten up, this woman was instantly healed when Jesus called her forward. He didn't commend her endurance—He freed her IMMEDIATELY and called her suffering a satanic bondage, not a cross.
I REFUSE the lie that my pain is a cross to bear. IT IS WRITTEN that by His stripes I WAS healed—past tense, finished at the cross! Jesus bore MY pain so I wouldn't have to. My cross is self-denial, not sickness. IT IS WRITTEN there is no condemnation for me in Christ, and that includes condemning myself to endure what He already REMOVED. I am under the BARAK blessing, redeemed from the curse, and pain is part of the curse. I receive the Father's touch RIGHT NOW—He's not waiting for me to endure more!
The Father isn't impressed by your endurance of pain—He's grieved you're believing you must carry what Jesus already carried. He's running toward you with RELIEF, not asking you to suffer longer to prove anything.
