"My nursing home poverty is God's judgment for how I handled money when I had it."
How it sounds in your head: I wasn't generous enough, spent on wrong things, made selfish choices. Now I'm paying for it—dying poor is my punishment. God settled accounts and I'm on the wrong side.
"Through the LORD's mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness."
-- Lamentations 3:22-23Religion—karma theology dressed as Christianity, making current poverty divine payback rather than covenant opportunity for grace.
She can remember financial selfishness, missed opportunities to give. Her current state feels like mathematical justice for past failures.
David committed adultery and murder, then died wealthy, blessed, and honored as man after God's heart. When confronted, God said 'your sin is taken away'—then blessed the rest of his life. No financial payback.
I REFUSE the lie that my poverty is God's judgment for financial failures. IT IS WRITTEN that His mercies are new every morning—not payback, MERCY. There is NO condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus took my judgment at the cross—the account is PAID. The BARAK blessing protected Abraham when he lied, Jacob when he deceived—it operates by COVENANT, not by karma. David murdered and committed adultery yet died blessed. I am the BRANCH connected to the Vine; my position is based on HIS righteousness, not my money management. This is not judgment. This is grace territory.
Your Father isn't punishing you—He's the God whose mercies are new every morning, who has NO condemnation for you. Jesus took your judgment. Your nursing home isn't payback; it's the stage for mercy to be new again today. He's not settling accounts. He's extending compassion.
