"God blessed them financially but passed over me—I must not be favored the same way."
How it sounds in your head: You pray, you believe, you've been faithful. But they prosper and you struggle. It feels personal, like God has favorites and you're not one of them. Maybe your faith isn't strong enough, maybe you missed something, maybe God just loves them more.
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ."
-- Ephesians 1:3Religion—the lie that God's blessing is earned by performance and distributed based on favor you can gain or lose.
The evidence is undeniable—they have more, and you both believe. At your age, after a lifetime of faith, the disparity feels like verdict from heaven about your standing with God. If faith produced results, yours should have by now.
He lost everything, and his 'wise' friends said it was because God was punishing him, that the prosperous were more righteous. God rebuked that theology. Then God restored DOUBLE everything Job lost in one day—instant breakthrough after devastating loss, proving God's blessing isn't distributed based on comparative righteousness.
I REFUSE the lie that God has favorites and I'm not one of them. IT IS WRITTEN that I am blessed with EVERY spiritual blessing in heavenly places in Christ—not some blessings, not conditional blessings, EVERY blessing, ALREADY given. Their prosperity doesn't diminish mine because God's supply is limitless. IT IS WRITTEN that I am Abraham's seed, blessed with the blessing of Abraham—the same blessing that rested on him when he lied, on Jacob when he deceived, on Judah when he sinned. I am loved, favored, and blessed because of CHRIST, not my performance or comparison.
Your Father isn't comparing you to them and choosing favorites—He's running toward you with everything Christ purchased on the cross. The prodigal's older brother made the same mistake, comparing himself and feeling cheated, but the Father said 'Son, you are always with me, and ALL that I have is yours'—not some, not based on behavior, ALL, always, because of sonship.
