"I should be content with less—wanting more at my age is just greed and materialism."

How it sounds in your head: You've been taught that godliness with contentment is great gain. At your age, shouldn't you be past material concerns? Maybe wanting financial breakthrough is carnal. Maybe you should just be grateful for what you have and stop being so focused on money like the worldly people.

3 John 1:2

"Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers."

-- 3 John 1:2
Enemy whispers: Wanting financial breakthrough at your age is greedy—spiritual people accept lack. BUT IT IS WRITTEN: 3 John 1:2—'Beloved, I pray that you may PROSPER in ALL THINGS and be in health.' Not 'I pray you learn to cope with lack.' PROSPER. In ALL THINGS. God wants you blessed. IT IS WRITTEN in Deuteronomy 28 that you are blessed in your storehouses, blessed in all you set your hand to—that's God's WILL, not greed. Jesus didn't die in poverty so you'd accept it as virtue.
Quick Truth: LIE: Wanting more is greed. TRUTH: God's will is that I prosper in all things (3 John 1:2).

Religion—the lie that desire for provision equals greed, and contentment means accepting lack as God's will.

Why this feels true:

Scripture talks about contentment, and Christian culture equates financial desire with worldliness. At your age, continuing to want more feels like you haven't matured spiritually, like you should be 'above' material concerns by now.

Genesis 13:2, 24:35
Abraham

Scripture specifically records that Abraham was 'very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold' and his servant testified 'the Lord has blessed my master greatly, and he has become great.' God wasn't embarrassed by Abraham's wealth—He highlighted it, blessed it, protected it, called it good, immediate divine endorsement of prosperity.

Speak this out loud

I REFUSE the lie that wanting God's provision at my age equals greed. IT IS WRITTEN that God's will is for me to prosper in all things and be in health. Abraham was 'very rich' and God called him righteous. The blessing of Abraham is mine by covenant. IT IS WRITTEN that I am blessed in my storehouses and all I set my hand to—that's not worldliness, that's covenant. Jesus became poor so I might become rich. Contentment isn't accepting lack—it's trusting abundance is coming. I'm a daughter of a King who owns everything, and desiring His provision glorifies Him.

But God actually:

Your Father isn't offended by your desire for provision—He's the one who put that desire in you, who promised abundant life, who prepared the fattened calf. The prodigal didn't return to less—the Father gave him MORE than sufficient, robe and ring and feast, because generous abundance is the Father's heart toward His children.
