"God must be punishing my family financially because we're not doing something right."
How it sounds in your head: Maybe we don't pray enough. Maybe we don't give enough. Maybe we have some sin God is mad about. That's why we struggle when other Christian families seem blessed. We're failing somehow.
"There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit."
-- Romans 8:1Religious lie that God's provision is based on performance, making God a cosmic accountant instead of a Father.
She's been taught that blessing follows obedience, so she reverse-engineers that lack must mean disobedience.
Jacob JUST deceived his father and stole his brother's blessing through lies, fleeing for his life. That very night, God appeared to him with promises of blessing, protection, and provision—not punishment but COVENANT confirmation despite his deception, showing blessing isn't earned by behavior.
I REFUSE the lie that financial struggle means God's punishment. IT IS WRITTEN that there is NO condemnation for those in Christ Jesus—not financial, not any kind. Christ redeemed me from poverty's curse and gave me Abraham's blessing. If Abraham prospered while LYING, if Isaac grew wealthy after DECEIVING, if Jacob was blessed while MANIPULATING, how much more am I blessed through Jesus' perfect blood? IT IS WRITTEN that I am blessed coming in and going out, the head not the tail. My Father doesn't punish with lack—He runs toward the prodigal with RINGS and ROBES. The BARAK protects me regardless of performance because it's based on COVENANT, not conduct.
Your Father isn't tallying your family's mistakes and adjusting your bank account accordingly. He's running toward you with the fattened calf while you still smell like the pig pen, because punishment was poured on JESUS, not you.
