"My needs are a burden on everyone around me"
How it sounds in your head: My kids have their own lives. I don't want to be the high-maintenance mother. I see the look on their faces when I ask for help.
"And I will very gladly spend and be spent for your souls; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I am loved."
-- 2 Corinthians 12:15Enemy using independence culture and fear of abandonment to isolate you from covenant community.
You've felt the subtle shift when you mention a need—the pause, the sigh, the obligation in their voice instead of joy. The culture worships self-sufficiency and you know assisted living is code for 'too much trouble to keep at home.'
A crippled man who couldn't walk, hidden away in shame, convinced he was worthless. King David sought him out specifically to RESTORE him to the king's table permanently—not despite his disability but to HONOR covenant. He ate at the king's table 'as one of the king's sons' every single day.
I REFUSE the lie that my needs burden people. IT IS WRITTEN that some will VERY GLADLY spend and be spent for souls—my needs create opportunities for covenant love. I am not high-maintenance—I am HONORED at the King's table. IT IS WRITTEN that David sought out crippled Mephibosheth specifically to restore him to eat at the king's table as one of his sons. My needs don't disqualify me; they position me for the BARAK blessing of being served by those who love covenant like their King.
The Father is running toward you saying, 'You're not too much trouble—you're My daughter, and I've prepared people who will GLADLY serve you.' He's setting a place for you at His table like David did for Mephibosheth—permanent, honored, family.
