"My need for connection is neediness that pushes people away."
How it sounds in your head: You want too much—too much depth, too much consistency, too much reciprocity. Other women can be casual and breezy about friendship but you NEED it in a way that's exhausting and off-putting. Your longing for connection IS the thing that guarantees you won't have it.
"Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart."
-- Psalm 37:4Shame-based lie that God-given desires are character flaws that must be hidden or fixed.
You've felt yourself being 'too much'—texting too often, caring too deeply, wanting more than others want to give. You've watched people step back when you step forward, seen the 'she's a lot' look in their eyes, learned to hide your needs behind casual indifference.
Desperate woman, spent everything on doctors, broke religious law by touching Jesus in a crowd, her need was SO great she pushed through shame and reached for healing. Jesus didn't rebuke her neediness—He INSTANTLY healed her and called her 'Daughter,' honoring her desperate faith.
I REFUSE the lie that my longing for connection is shameful neediness. IT IS WRITTEN that God gives me the desires of my heart—He PLACED this longing in me and He doesn't shame me for it. The Father didn't create me with deep relational needs and then condemn me for having them—He RAN toward me to BE the fulfillment and SOURCE. IT IS WRITTEN that He knows what I need before I ask—my needs are not too much for Him. I am not needy—I am DESIGNED for connection, and God is the PROVIDER. The BARAK blessing includes fulfillment of every God-given desire.
The Father sees you trying to shrink your needs, hide your longing, pretend you're fine with crumbs when you're starving for connection—and He's not waiting for you to become less needy. He's RUNNING toward you like you're the ONLY person in the room, ready to pour out connection and intimacy with the same abundance as turning water into 180 GALLONS of finest wine.
