"My fear and anxiety attacks are demonic oppression that won't leave until I get free."
How it sounds in your head: Heart races at 2am. Panic floods my chest. Can't breathe. What if I have a heart attack? What if this is it? The fear feels supernatural, beyond normal worry. Spirits of fear are attacking, and I need someone to cast them out.
"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."
-- 2 Timothy 1:7Source: Charismatic teaching that labels all anxiety and fear as 'spirits' requiring deliverance ministry rather than recognizing the battle for the mind and the authority believers already possess.
The physical symptoms feel overwhelming and beyond his control, creating the sense of external invasion. When prayer doesn't immediately stop the panic, it reinforces the lie that something demonic has attached that needs special removal.
Walked on water in supernatural authority, then saw the wind and was afraid - immediately began to sink. Fear didn't mean demons possessed him. Jesus didn't perform deliverance. He just said 'O you of little faith, why did you doubt?' and pulled him up. Fear was countered by refocusing on Jesus, not by exorcism.
I REFUSE the lie that anxiety attacks are demons requiring deliverance. IT IS WRITTEN that God has NOT given me a spirit of fear but of POWER, LOVE, and a SOUND MIND. Present tense. Already mine. I don't need to GET these - I HAVE them and must ENFORCE them. Fear is a liar that must bow to truth. IT IS WRITTEN that perfect love casts out fear. I am PERFECTLY LOVED by the Father who runs toward me, not away. Peter's fear didn't mean possession - it meant taking eyes off Jesus. I fix my eyes on Him. The BARAK blessing includes 'you shall not be afraid' - covenant promise, not earning requirement. I HAVE the sound mind. I DECLARE peace over panic.
The Father isn't waiting for you to find deliverance from fear - He already gave you power, love, and a sound mind at salvation. He sees you drowning in panic and doesn't schedule a deliverance session - He reaches out His hand IMMEDIATELY like He did for Peter and says 'I've got you, son, just look at Me.'
