"My failures and sins disqualify me from God's blessing. I blew it too many times."
How it sounds in your head: You know what you've done—the affairs, the lies, the anger, the years you ignored God. Maybe you're respectable now, but God knows your history. You don't deserve His blessing, and honestly, you're lucky if He doesn't punish you for the life you lived.
"Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, 'Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree'), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus."
-- Galatians 3:13-14Religion teaching that blessing is earned by behavior, hiding the BARAK covenant that blessed liars and deceivers.
You can recount specific sins and failures that seem too big to overcome. If blessing were based on behavior, you'd absolutely be disqualified. The guilt is real and the memories are vivid.
Jacob LIED to his father, DECEIVED him with food and disguise, and STOLE his brother's blessing through fraud. When Isaac discovered the deception, he TREMBLED but declared, 'I have blessed him—and he SHALL BE BLESSED.' The blessing couldn't be reversed even by deception. God never removed the BARAK from Jacob despite his lies.
I REFUSE the lie that my sins disqualify me! IT IS WRITTEN: Christ has REDEEMED me from the curse and given me the BLESSING OF ABRAHAM! The BARAK covenant protected liars, deceivers, and worse—how much MORE does the BLOOD OF JESUS cover me! I am not defined by my worst moments—I am defined by HIS BEST MOMENT on the cross. IT IS WRITTEN: There is NO CONDEMNATION for those in Christ Jesus! I am QUALIFIED by His righteousness, not disqualified by my failures. The blood speaks BETTER THINGS than my sins. I am BLESSED coming in and going out, BLESSED in all I do, because I am IN CHRIST and He took my curse and gave me His blessing!
The Father doesn't keep a scorecard of your failures—He nailed it to the cross with Jesus. Like the prodigal covered in pig filth and prostitute money, you're embraced IMMEDIATELY. The Father doesn't mention your past—He announces your SONSHIP and throws a party.
