"My exhaustion is punishment for not taking better care of myself when I was younger."
How it sounds in your head: If I had exercised more, eaten better, stressed less, maybe I wouldn't be so tired now. I brought this on myself through decades of poor choices. I'm reaping what I sowed.
"And you, being dead in your trespasses... He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us... and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross."
-- Colossians 2:13-14Religious karma teaching that current suffering is payment for past failures, denying grace.
She can trace every health decision she regrets—smoking in her 30s, stress eating, skipping exercise. The logic seems airtight: poor choices equal consequences.
This woman had five failed marriages and was living with a man not her husband—decades of 'bad choices.' Jesus didn't make her earn healing or wait for consequences to run their course; He offered living water IMMEDIATELY and made her an evangelist that same day.
I REFUSE the lie that my exhaustion is punishment for past poor choices and I'm reaping what I sowed. IT IS WRITTEN that He forgave ALL trespasses and nailed every certificate of debt to the cross. I'm not under karma; I'm under GRACE. The woman at the well didn't earn healing after five divorces—Jesus gave living water immediately. IT IS WRITTEN in Romans 8:1 there is NO condemnation to those in Christ. Past choices don't determine present blessing. I receive complete forgiveness, total healing, and supernatural energy NOW.
The Father isn't reviewing your health history and tallying consequences—He's running toward you with the same grace that offered living water to the five-time divorcee. He sees you forgiven and healed, not paying for the past.
