"I'm a burden to others because I don't have energy to contribute anymore."
How it sounds in your head: You used to help. Now you need help. You used to serve. Now you're served. You take more than you give. Everyone has to adjust their plans around your limitations. You're the problem they manage, not the solution they need. You're becoming dead weight.
"And He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
-- 2 Corinthians 12:9Performance identity + enemy condemnation that worth equals productivity and needing help equals being worthless.
Others genuinely do adjust around your limitations. Grandkids visit you instead of you visiting them. People bring meals, drive you places, help with tasks you used to do yourself. The dependency is real and measurable.
Mephibosheth was crippled in both feet, hiding in fear, unable to contribute anything. David SOUGHT HIM OUT, restored Saul's entire estate to him, and gave him a permanent place at the king's table—not for what he could DO, but because of COVENANT. He ate at the king's table 'as one of the king's sons' while crippled.
I REFUSE the lie that my worth equals my energy or productivity. IT IS WRITTEN that God's strength is made PERFECT in my weakness—my limitation is where His power shows up BEST. Mephibosheth sat at the king's table crippled, not for what he contributed but because of COVENANT. I am at the Father's table because of JESUS' blood, not my energy level. IT IS WRITTEN that there is NO CONDEMNATION—none for needing help, none for limitations, NONE. The BARAK blessing isn't based on my productivity—it protected Isaac even when he LIED, Jacob when he DECEIVED. I don't earn my seat at the table; I INHERIT it as Abraham's seed. My value is POSITION (beloved son), not PERFORMANCE. Others' service to me is THEIR blessing, and my receiving is GRACE IN ACTION.
The Father isn't keeping score of what you contribute—He's DELIGHTING in you as His son, seated at His table with the robe and ring WHILE you're still weak. He's not waiting for you to be useful again; He's already celebrating you because you're HIS.
