"My energy is too big and I need to contain myself"
How it sounds in your head: I walk into rooms and feel like I take up too much space. My laugh is too loud. My excitement makes people uncomfortable. I've been told to 'bring it down' so many times I'm starting to believe small is better. Maybe if I could just shrink, I'd finally be acceptable.
"Then David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was wearing a linen ephod."
-- 2 Samuel 6:14Spirit of religion that mistakes suppression for self-control and celebration for carnality
She's been shushed, corrected, and side-eyed her whole life while watching quieter people get praised. Every room feels like she's too much for the space, and she's exhausted from trying to compress herself.
The instant Peter healed him, he went 'walking, leaping, and praising God' into the temple - creating a scene, being loud, attracting attention. Luke didn't say he walked calmly; he LEAPED and PRAISED, and that big energy brought 5,000 people to salvation.
I REFUSE the lie that my energy is too much. IT IS WRITTEN that David danced with ALL his might and God called him a man after His own heart while cursing the person who told him to tone down. The healed lame man LEAPED and PRAISED loudly and 5,000 people got saved. IT IS WRITTEN that I am to make a JOYFUL NOISE, to shout to the Lord, to celebrate with dancing. My big energy is worship, and the BARAK blessing means I am blessed coming in with all this energy. I will not shrink to make dead religion comfortable. I am a daughter of the King who created supernovas.
The Father is not trying to contain you - He's creating bigger spaces for you because your energy is contagious life. He's the God of galaxies and thunder and crashing waves, and He made you with that same untamed celebration flowing through your veins.
