"My divorce disqualifies me from spiritual authority or leadership in God's kingdom."
How it sounds in your head: You couldn't keep your marriage together. How can God trust you with anything important? Ministry is for those who got it right. You're a cautionary tale, not a leader.
"For you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; in that you spoke truly. Jesus said to her, 'Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father. But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.'"
-- John 4:18-26Religious requirements from 1 Timothy 3 applied to ALL believers instead of just elder requirements.
Churches often sideline divorced women from teaching, leading, or serving visibly. She's felt the subtle (or blatant) message that her failure eliminated her from useful service.
Woman with five divorces and currently living with a man met Jesus at noon (avoiding judgmental crowds). IMMEDIATELY after one conversation, she ran to her city and brought the ENTIRE TOWN to Jesus—becoming the most effective evangelist in the Gospels, and Jesus stayed two days because of her testimony.
I REFUSE the lie that my divorce disqualified me from leadership. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus chose the woman with five failed marriages to be the first city-wide evangelist. My Father doesn't sideline the broken—He SHOWCASES them. IT IS WRITTEN in John 4 that true worshipers worship in spirit and truth, not in marital status. I am the Samaritan woman redeemed, running to tell my city what Jesus did. The BARAK blessing doesn't depend on marriage success—it rested on Abraham, Isaac, Jacob through polygamy, deception, and dysfunction. I declare I am qualified by HIS BLOOD, authorized by HIS CALL, and leading by HIS GRACE.
Your Father didn't wait for her to leave husband number six or complete a boundaries course. He revealed HIMSELF as Messiah in the middle of her mess and sent her out IMMEDIATELY, making her the most effective evangelist in John's Gospel.
