"God is benching me until I prove I've really changed this time."
How it sounds in your head: You've had too many false starts. Said you'd quit porn—relapsed. Said you'd control your anger—blew up again. God's not buying your repentance anymore until you show sustained change. The blessings are on hold until you demonstrate you're serious.
"Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need."
-- Hebrews 4:16Source: Religion turns God into a performance-review manager who puts you on probation after failure, but the cross ended all probation forever.
You genuinely have said 'never again' and then did it again. It feels manipulative to expect God's blessing when your behavior patterns haven't shifted. Surely He's making you prove it this time before opening doors.
Peter denied Jesus three times, cursing and swearing he didn't know Him. After the resurrection, Jesus didn't put him on probation—He immediately recommissioned him: 'Feed My sheep.' No waiting period, no proving period. From denier to church leader in one breakfast conversation.
I REFUSE the lie that God is benching me until I prove I've changed. IT IS WRITTEN that I come BOLDLY to the throne of grace—not cautiously after I've proven myself—to obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of NEED. My need is NOW. Grace is not the reward for change; it's the POWER for change. The Father didn't bench Peter after three denials—He recommissioned him immediately. IT IS WRITTEN there is NO condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. The blessing is not on hold pending my behavior report. I am blessed coming in and going out, in the city and in the field, because I am Abraham's seed. The Father is opening doors NOW, not after I've earned it.
The Father doesn't have a probation system—He has a covenant. You're not working your way back into favor; you never left it. The doors you think are closed pending your improvement are actually open right now, waiting for you to walk through BOLDLY, knowing His grace is the power for the change you're trying to manufacture on your own.
