"My dependence on others proves I lost God's blessing—blessed people are self-sufficient."
How it sounds in your head: I can't even take care of myself anymore. I need help bathing, eating, managing money. If God was really blessing me, I'd be independent and strong. My dependence is proof of failure, not favor.
"And He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
-- 2 Corinthians 12:9The world glorifies independence and equates dependence with weakness; religion adds that God's blessing means self-sufficiency and strength.
She literally cannot function independently—she needs physical, financial, and practical help daily. Every blessed person she can think of seemed strong and capable, not dependent and weak.
He was crippled in both feet, completely dependent, hiding in fear. King David sought him out, restored ALL of Saul's land to him, and said 'you shall eat bread at my table continually'—permanent provision and honor BECAUSE of covenant, not despite his dependence.
I REFUSE the lie that dependence proves I lost God's blessing. IT IS WRITTEN in 2 Corinthians 12:9 that His strength is made PERFECT in weakness—my dependence positions me for HIS POWER to be displayed. I am the righteousness of God in Christ, and the BARAK blessing doesn't require my independence. IT IS WRITTEN in Deuteronomy 28:6 that I am blessed coming in and going out—even when I need help with both. My worth isn't in what I can do but in whose I am. I receive provision and honor NOW, not because I'm strong but because HE IS.
The Father isn't disappointed by your dependence—He's running toward you like David ran toward Mephibosheth, eager to seat you at His table permanently, restore everything, and lavish you with provision that has nothing to do with your capability and everything to do with His covenant love.
