"My cultural food is gross and I should be embarrassed when people ask what I'm eating."
How it sounds in your head: Kids wrinkle their noses at my lunch. They ask 'what IS that?' in a mean voice. Teachers have asked me if I can bring 'normal food' because the smell bothers people. She's experienced real reactions—disgust, mockery, or complaints about her food. Authority figures have reinforced that her food is a problem, making shame seem like the reasonable response.
Peter was told by religious culture that certain foods were 'unclean' and disgusting. God gave him a vision and said, 'What GOD has called clean, don't YOU call unclean.' INSTANTLY, Peter's food restrictions were demolished and the gospel went to all nations.
I REFUSE the lie that my cultural food is gross. IT IS WRITTEN that every creature of God is good and nothing is to be refused. My food carries HERITAGE, love, and generational blessing. I am not embarrassed—I am HONORED to eat what my family prepares. IT IS WRITTEN that what God calls clean, no one can call unclean. My lunch is not a problem—other people's ignorance is. I carry the BLESSING OF ABRAHAM into every room, including the lunchroom. I honor my culture with every bite.
The Father doesn't see your lunchbox as a problem—He sees it as a PORTAL to your family's story. He's not embarrassed by your food; He's the One who gave your ancestors the recipes in the first place.
