"My accent and broken English made me seem uneducated and less intelligent."
How it sounds in your head: People talked slower to you, as if you were simple. They dismissed your ideas because of how you pronounced words. You're dying still hearing the condescension in their voices.
"But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty."
-- 1 Corinthians 1:27World: Equated linguistic imperialism with intelligence, making fluency a false measure of worth.
Every job interview where they struggled to understand you, every meeting where your contributions were ignored, every grandchild who spoke to you like a child—the humiliation was constant and real.
Moses protested he was 'slow of speech and slow of tongue'—he had a speech impediment that made him feel disqualified. God said, 'I MADE your mouth,' and used him to deliver a nation and speak face-to-face with Pharaoh.
I REFUSE the lie that my accent made me less intelligent or valuable. IT IS WRITTEN that God chose the foolish things to shame the wise—what the world mocked, Heaven celebrated. I speak multiple languages; my mind holds worlds they never accessed. My worth is not measured by pronunciation but by being made in God's IMAGE. IT IS WRITTEN that out of the mouth of babes God has perfected praise—He doesn't require polished speech. I declare: I am wise in Christ, filled with the mind of Christ, and my voice matters to the One who created language itself.
The Father has been listening to every word you spoke with delight, treasuring the sound of your voice without once wishing it sounded different. He hears your heart in every language, and Heaven has no native tongue requirement.
