"My accent or way of speaking makes people take me less seriously professionally."
How it sounds in your head: You hear yourself on recordings and cringe. You practice 'professional voice' in the mirror. They ask you to repeat yourself. You see their face when they hear your accent before they hear your idea. You're diluting your own voice to be heard.
"And how is it that we hear, each in our own language in which we were born?"
-- Acts 2:8World system valuing assimilation over the diverse tongues God created and redeemed at Pentecost.
Studies show accent bias in hiring is measurable. You've watched less qualified people get heard because they sound 'right.' You've been interrupted or talked over in ways your peers haven't.
Moses said 'I am slow of speech and slow of tongue' and God responded 'Who made your mouth? Now GO, and I will be with your mouth.' God used Moses's exact voice to confront Pharaoh and didn't change his speech pattern first.
I REFUSE the lie that my voice needs fixing to carry authority. IT IS WRITTEN that God made my mouth exactly as it is. At Pentecost, He didn't erase accents - He gave ears to hear them. My words carry the weight of covenant, not the approval of culture. IT IS WRITTEN that I am blessed in the city and blessed in the field - my voice is blessed WHEREVER I speak. I am Abraham's seed. The blessing goes before me and opens ears to hear truth regardless of accent.
The Father isn't waiting for you to sound different - He's giving you the RING of authority and putting His words in your mouth exactly as you speak. He's been preparing the rooms that need to hear YOUR voice, not a performance of someone else's.
