"My chronic pain is who I am now — I can't remember life without it defining me."
How it sounds in your head: It's been so long you barely remember feeling normal. You describe yourself differently: 'I'm dealing with chronic pain.' It's the first thing you think about waking up, the last thing at night. It colors every decision, every mood, every interaction. The pain became YOU.
"But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed."
-- Isaiah 53:5Enemy's long-term strategy to merge your identity with suffering until you can't distinguish between self and symptom.
Years of constant pain rewire your brain — it's neurologically and psychologically integrated into who you are. You literally can't imagine yourself without it anymore.
He had NEVER seen in his entire life — blindness wasn't a condition, it was his TOTAL LIFE EXPERIENCE, his occupation (begging), his social identity ('the blind man'). Jesus spit, made clay, touched his eyes — and IMMEDIATELY he saw for the first time ever, identity instantly transformed from 'the blind beggar' to 'the man who sees.'
I REFUSE the lie that chronic pain defines who I am. IT IS WRITTEN that by His stripes I AM healed — present tense, current reality. Jesus took my pain in His body so I could walk in wholeness in mine. I separate my identity from my symptoms — pain may be present, but it is NOT me. IT IS WRITTEN in Romans 8:11 that resurrection life flows through my mortal body RIGHT NOW through the Spirit. I am blessed with the blessing of Abraham, which includes divine health as covenant right. I am a son of God, not a pain patient.
The Father sees you so fused with pain you can't remember who you were without it, and He's running toward you with the same power that raised Jesus from death, shouting 'I remember who you are — you're MY SON, and by My stripes you ARE healed!' He's not waiting for you to separate yourself from pain — He's doing it NOW, flooding you with resurrection life.
