"My chronic fatigue is God slowing me down to spend more time with Him in weakness."
How it sounds in your head: You used to lead, serve, work out, stay up late serving at church. Now at 46 you're exhausted all the time—chronic fatigue, maybe fibromyalgia. The spiritual director says maybe God's calling you to contemplative prayer, to intimacy born of weakness, to the monastery of your bedroom when you can't get up.
"He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength."
-- Isaiah 40:29Source: Religion—mystical theology that romanticizes weakness and exhaustion as deeper spirituality, confusing forced limitation with chosen sabbath.
You ARE praying more because you can't do anything else, and framing this prison as a prayer closet feels more spiritual than admitting you're under demonic attack. The contemplative Christian literature makes weakness sound like the pathway to God's presence.
Depressed, exhausted, suicidal, wanting to die under a tree. God's response wasn't 'stay weak for intimacy'—He sent an angel with FOOD TWICE, and the strength from those meals carried Elijah FORTY DAYS to Horeb. God met exhaustion with SUPERNATURAL STRENGTH, then spoke in the stillness.
I REFUSE the lie that God wants me chronically fatigued for intimacy. IT IS WRITTEN that He gives POWER to the weak and INCREASES STRENGTH to those with no might. God doesn't meet my weakness with more weakness; He floods me with resurrection power. IT IS WRITTEN that the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead dwells in me and gives LIFE to my mortal body. I am Abraham's seed, and the BARAK blessing includes supernatural strength and energy. I receive divine vitality, strength, and energy NOW to fulfill my calling in POWER.
The Father isn't trapping you in exhaustion to get your attention—He's running toward you with supernatural strength and energy, ready to flood your body with the same power that raised Jesus from the dead. He gives you REST, not chronic fatigue; He gives STRENGTH, not endless weakness.
