"My body is a project to perfect before I can feel acceptable."
How it sounds in your head: You look at your body as a renovation site—always something to fix, improve, tighten, reduce. You think once you reach that goal weight, that measurement, that look, THEN you'll finally feel acceptable. But the goalpost keeps moving and acceptable never comes.
"to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved."
-- Ephesians 1:6Source: Performance-driven culture that turned bodies into projects and made acceptance conditional on achievement.
Society bombards you with before-and-after transformations, promising that the 'after' version finally gets to feel good about herself. Your body feels like unfinished business, and you've believed acceptance is waiting on the other side of perfection.
Mephibosheth was crippled in both feet—permanently disabled, unable to fix his body. King David didn't say 'get physical therapy first.' He IMMEDIATELY brought him to the king's table permanently, gave him all of Saul's land, and treated him like a king's son. Acceptance came with broken feet, not after healing.
I REFUSE the lie that my body is a project to perfect before I can feel acceptable. IT IS WRITTEN that God MADE me accepted in the Beloved—past tense, finished work. My acceptance isn't on the other side of transformation; it's a GIFT I already received in Christ. God doesn't see a project when He looks at me—He sees His beloved daughter, fully accepted RIGHT NOW. IT IS WRITTEN that Mephibosheth ate at the king's table with crippled feet, proving acceptance comes with brokenness, not after fixing it. I am the righteousness of God in Christ, accepted and beloved THIS MOMENT.
Your Father isn't waiting for you to finish the body project—He already seated you at His table, called you accepted, and declared you beloved. Mephibosheth ate like royalty with crippled feet under the table. Your Father sees your HEART, not your measurements, and He's not waiting for improvement to pull you close.
