"My body betrayed me, so I can't trust it anymore."
How it sounds in your head: My body failed me. It developed this disease without my permission. I can't rely on it—it could malfunction any moment. I'm at war with my own body.
"Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?"
-- 1 Corinthians 6:19Enemy driving a wedge between her and her own body—making her view it as enemy instead of temple, creating internal civil war.
Her body literally did something she didn't choose. Symptoms appear without warning. She feels like she's living in a defective vessel that could fail her anytime.
His body was crippled in both feet from childhood—a body that 'failed' him. David restored him to royalty ANYWAY, giving him a permanent place at the king's table despite his body's condition—worth wasn't in function but in covenant.
I REFUSE the lie that my body is my enemy. IT IS WRITTEN that my body is the temple of the Holy Spirit—sacred, honored, inhabited by God Himself. I will not make war with what Heaven calls holy ground. IT IS WRITTEN in Psalm 139:14 that I am fearfully and wonderfully made—present tense, even now. The BARAK blessing that covered Abraham's body when he was 100 years old covers mine—blessing in my physical body, strength in my frame. The Spirit who raised Christ from the dead dwells IN me and gives LIFE to my mortal body. I am NOT betrayed. I am BELOVED, body and all.
The Father doesn't see your body as defective—He sees it as the dwelling place of His Spirit. He's running toward you with the same tenderness He had for Thomas's doubts and Peter's denials, saying 'Your body is MINE, and I'm making all things new—starting with every cell.'
