"My addiction proves I'm fundamentally broken - damaged goods that can't be fully restored."
How it sounds in your head: Good Christian women don't struggle with this. Something is deeply wrong with me that even God can't fully fix. I can be forgiven but never truly whole. I'm the exception to restoration.
"As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us."
-- Psalm 103:12Religious shame that separates 'respectable' sins from addiction, making some people irredeemable.
She's watched church people get celebrated for overcoming 'acceptable' struggles while addiction carries permanent stigma. Even after years clean, people still look at her differently.
Sacrificed his own children to demons, filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, practiced witchcraft and sorcery - worst king in Israel's history. When he cried out to God from prison, God heard him, brought him back to Jerusalem, and RESTORED his kingdom - full restoration despite unspeakable evil.
I REFUSE the lie that I am damaged goods or permanently broken. IT IS WRITTEN that as far as the east is from the west, He has removed my transgressions from me. I am not the exception to His restoration power - I am the PROOF of it. Though my sins were scarlet, they are WHITE as snow. IT IS WRITTEN that He makes ALL things new - not 'most things' or 'everything except addicts.' ALL things. I am fully restored, completely whole, totally righteous in Christ. The Father doesn't see me as damaged - He sees me as BELOVED.
The Father doesn't have a two-tier system where some people get full restoration and addicts get partial. When He looks at you, He sees the same righteousness He sees in every saint - the righteousness of JESUS covering you completely, no damage visible.
