"Money corrupts people. It's more spiritual to stay humble and broke."
How it sounds in your head: You're told 'money is the root of all evil' and that having wealth will ruin you. Staying poor feels safer, more pure, less dangerous. You equate poverty with humility and wealth with pride.
"And you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day."
-- Deuteronomy 8:18Religious misinterpretation: '1 Timothy 6:10 says money is evil' (it doesn't - it says LOVE of money is a root of evil), creating poverty gospel.
You've seen rich people be jerks and you've seen poor people be humble, so the connection feels obvious. Plus poverty feels less risky spiritually - you can't be corrupted by what you don't have.
After his trial, 'the LORD gave Job TWICE as much as he had before.' God didn't leave him humble and broke to keep him pure. He DOUBLED everything - 14,000 sheep, 6,000 camels, 1,000 oxen, 1,000 donkeys. Massive wealth as RESTORATION.
I REFUSE the lie that money corrupts and poverty is holier. IT IS WRITTEN that God GIVES power to get wealth to establish His covenant. IT IS WRITTEN that Job received DOUBLE after his trial - God restored him with massive wealth, not humble poverty. I am a branch abiding in the Vine (John 15:5). Connected to Jesus, I CANNOT produce corrupt fruit. The BARAK blessing on me as Abraham's seed includes being blessed in my storehouses (Deuteronomy 28:8). Wealth in the hands of the righteous establishes God's kingdom. I receive it NOW.
The Father isn't keeping you poor to protect you from corruption. He's the One who loaded Israel with Egypt's gold, who made Abraham 'very rich,' who gave Solomon wealth as a GIFT. He trusts who you are IN CHRIST more than you trust yourself.
