"Biblical prosperity is only about spiritual riches. Expecting actual money is carnal and greedy."
How it sounds in your head: The pastor always spiritualizes wealth verses - 'true riches are knowing Christ.' Wanting actual provision feels shallow. Real Christians are content being broke but Bible-smart. Expecting financial blessing makes me a prosperity gospel heretic.
"Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers."
-- 3 John 1:2Religion creating false dichotomy between spiritual and material blessing, making poverty sound holy while God promised Abraham both land AND descendants, heaven AND earth.
Every critique of prosperity teaching he's heard mocks people wanting 'God as a genie' and elevates suffering as somehow more spiritual. Wanting money feels less noble than wanting more of Jesus.
Scripture explicitly states 'Abram was very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold.' The father of faith wasn't just spiritually blessed - he had measurable, material, transferable wealth that made him a power in the land.
I REFUSE the lie that Biblical prosperity is only spiritual while my bank account stays empty. IT IS WRITTEN that God wants me to prosper in ALL THINGS - spirit, soul, body, AND finances. Abraham's blessing included livestock, silver, and gold, not just a nice quiet time. IT IS WRITTEN that Christ redeemed me from poverty's curse to give me Deuteronomy 28 blessing - blessed in the city, blessed in the field, blessed in my storehouses. I am Abraham's seed, and the BARAK covers EVERY area of my life. My Father doesn't want me spiritually rich and financially broke - He's running toward me with the ring of authority AND the resources to walk in it.
Your Father doesn't make you choose between knowing Him and having provision. He's the God who gave the prodigal BOTH the embrace AND the robe, BOTH the sonship AND the celebration, BOTH the relationship AND the resources to live as a son.
