"Mental health struggles mean the enemy has a foothold in my life"
How it sounds in your head: My Bible study leader said depression is an open door for demons. If I'm struggling this much, I must have given the enemy access somehow. Maybe I listened to the wrong music, watched the wrong show, or didn't pray enough. This is spiritual warfare I'm losing.
"For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
-- Romans 8:38-39Teaching that attributes all mental illness to demonic activity, creating fear and self-condemnation instead of compassion.
She's heard spiritual warfare teachings that make every struggle a demon to cast out. Her persistent depression feels like evidence of enemy occupation rather than brain chemistry.
Paul had a 'thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan'—a persistent struggle God didn't remove. God said 'My grace is sufficient' instead of casting it out. Even a struggle the enemy exploited didn't disqualify Paul.
I REFUSE the lie that my mental health means the enemy has control. IT IS WRITTEN that NOTHING can separate me from God's love—not principalities, not powers, not depression. I am SEALED by the Holy Spirit, bought by the blood, covered by the BARAK covenant. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus disarmed principalities and made a public spectacle of them. The enemy has NO foothold in my life—I belong to God. I am the righteousness of God in Christ, protected and loved.
The Father isn't worried about the enemy stealing you. You're sealed, protected, and held so tightly that nothing—not even your depression—can pry you from His hands.
