"Mental health struggles mean I'm not really trusting God for my future."
How it sounds in your head: You lie awake catastrophizing about the future—finances, kids, career, health. The anxiety feels like evidence you don't actually believe God is good or in control. If you really trusted Him, wouldn't you have peace?
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
-- Philippians 4:6-7Source: Religion—trust measured by absence of fear instead of presence of Jesus in the fear.
Every sermon on anxiety quotes Philippians 4:6 as if worry is a simple choice. Your racing thoughts about the future feel like proof you're failing at faith.
David wrote: 'How long, LORD? Will you forget me forever? How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and day after day have sorrow in my heart?' He brought his anxious, racing thoughts directly to God—and ended with trust. His anxiety didn't disqualify his faith; it deepened it.
I REFUSE the lie that anxiety proves lack of trust. IT IS WRITTEN that I bring my requests to God in EVERY situation—including the anxious ones. Peace is HIS GIFT, not my achievement. IT IS WRITTEN in Philippians 4:7 that His peace GUARDS my heart and mind—I don't guard it by eliminating worry. I am Abraham's seed, blessed with the BARAK covenant that protects my future regardless of my fear. I bring my racing thoughts to the Father NOW and receive supernatural peace that transcends understanding.
The Father isn't waiting for you to stop worrying before He moves—He's inviting you to bring the worry to Him like a child brings a nightmare to a parent. He's whispering: 'Son, I've got your future. Hand Me the fear and receive My peace.'
