"Suicidal thoughts mean you've crossed a line God won't forgive."
How it sounds in your head: You've had the thought. Maybe more than once. Maybe you've googled methods. Maybe you've stood on the edge - literally or figuratively - and the shame is crushing. Christians aren't supposed to think like this. Surely this is the unforgivable sin. Surely God is disgusted with you now.
"And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand."
-- John 10:28Enemy death assignment wrapped in religious condemnation, convincing you that dark thoughts equal unforgivable sin, trapping you in shame silence.
The thoughts feel too dark, too final, too evil to be something a 'real Christian' would battle. You're terrified to tell anyone because what if they confirm what you fear - that you've gone too far?
Jonah got so angry at God's mercy that he literally asked God to kill him - 'take my life from me, for it is better for me to die than to live.' God's response wasn't condemnation; it was a patient question and another chance to walk in calling.
I REFUSE the lie that my suicidal thoughts have disqualified me from God's love. IT IS WRITTEN that NOTHING can snatch me from His hand - not depression, not darkness, not the battle in my mind. Elijah wanted to die and God fed him. Jonah begged for death and God gave him purpose. My dark thoughts don't change my blood-bought position. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus came to give ABUNDANT life, and that promise doesn't expire when my brain lies to me. The BARAK blessing covers my mind completely - I am blessed in the battle, blessed in the breakthrough, blessed when I can't see a way forward because HE is my way. I am the head and not the tail even in the mental warfare.
The Father doesn't recoil in disgust when you have suicidal thoughts - He moves CLOSER, fighting FOR you against the enemy's death assignment. Just like He sent an angel to cook for Elijah who wanted to die, He's surrounding you with help even when you can't feel it.
