"Maybe I'm not actually saved or God wouldn't ignore my prayers like this."
How it sounds in your head: If I were really God's child, He would answer me. Since He seems silent, maybe I never truly believed or I'm not really saved. Real Christians get answers.
"And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may KNOW that you have eternal life."
-- 1 John 5:11-13Enemy attacking salvation assurance using unanswered prayer as 'proof' that relationship with God isn't real or secure.
The logic feels airtight: Father answers children, God is silent, therefore you're not His child. When prayers aren't answered, questioning the foundational relationship feels like the only explanation left.
Mary and Martha sent urgent word that Lazarus was dying - Jesus LOVED them and Lazarus. Yet Jesus STAYED TWO MORE DAYS and let Lazarus DIE. The delay wasn't rejection; it was setup for greater glory - resurrection instead of just healing.
I REFUSE the lie that unanswered prayer questions my salvation. IT IS WRITTEN that I may KNOW I have eternal life - not doubt it based on circumstances. The Spirit HIMSELF bears witness I am God's child, not my answered prayer scorecard. I am under the BARAK covenant as Abraham's seed by promise, HEIR according to covenant, not performance. IT IS WRITTEN in John 10:28-29, 'I give them eternal life and they shall NEVER perish; neither shall ANYONE snatch them out of My hand.' My security is HIS GRIP, not my grip. Even Jesus' prayer got 'no' in Gethsemane - delays don't determine identity.
The Father isn't proving you're His child through answered prayers - He proved it by sending Jesus to die for you while you were STILL A SINNER. Your status as His beloved son isn't on trial; it's settled by blood and covenant forever.
