"Love always comes with conditions—I have to earn it and can lose it."
How it sounds in your head: You learned early: love is performance-based. When you're good, you're loved. When you mess up, the warmth disappears. Your relationships feel like auditions—constant proving, constant fear of failing, constant anxiety that one mistake will cost you everything.
"For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
-- Romans 8:38-39Source: Conditional love from earthly relationships projected onto God, making grace feel like a lie and works feel like truth.
Every relationship you've had required performance—your parents' approval, your ex's affection, your friends' acceptance. Love has always had an 'if'—if you're good enough, thin enough, successful enough, pleasant enough. Unconditional love sounds beautiful but impossible.
Denied Jesus three times, cursed, swore he didn't know Him, failed at the most critical moment. Jesus didn't make him grovel or prove himself—He cooked him BREAKFAST on the beach, restored him with three questions mirroring his three denials, and commissioned him to feed His sheep. Performance didn't earn it; GRACE gave it.
I REFUSE the lie that God's love is conditional. IT IS WRITTEN: 'NOTHING shall be able to separate me from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus'—not my failure, not my worst day, NOTHING. IT IS WRITTEN: 'I am accepted in the Beloved.' I don't earn love by performance—I RECEIVE love by position. I am IN CHRIST, and therefore I am PERMANENTLY LOVED. The BARAK blessing is mine by COVENANT, not conduct. I cannot lose what Jesus already secured. I am SAFE in His love.
The Father's love isn't based on your behavior—it's based on HIS NATURE, which never changes. He loved you at your worst, died for you before you knew Him, and will never love you less than He does right now, which is COMPLETELY.
