"Jesus was poor, so if I follow Him faithfully, I should expect to struggle financially too."
How it sounds in your head: Jesus didn't even have a place to lay His head. He lived simply, owned nothing, and died broke. If I'm really following Him, shouldn't my life look the same? Maybe wanting financial stability is just wanting comfort over the cross.
"For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich."
-- 2 Corinthians 8:9Source: Religion - using Jesus' earthly ministry (where He carried OUR poverty) to justify believers staying poor instead of receiving HIS exchange.
The Gospels show Jesus wandering with no permanent home, and He told the rich young ruler to sell everything. Plus, every sermon on sacrifice and following Jesus seems to equate spirituality with financial struggle.
Job lost EVERYTHING - wealth, children, health - and his religious friends blamed him for it. But God DOUBLED everything Job lost in a single moment, giving him twice the livestock, twice the wealth, proving that loss isn't God's plan for the faithful.
I REFUSE the lie that Jesus' temporary poverty means I should live in permanent lack. IT IS WRITTEN: Jesus became poor so that I, through HIS poverty, might become RICH. He carried the curse of financial struggle so I could walk in covenant blessing. I am an heir of the BARAK - the same blessing that made Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob wealthy even when they lied and deceived. IT IS WRITTEN: Christ redeemed me from the CURSE of poverty and lack, and gave me the BLESSING of provision and increase. I receive what Jesus purchased, not what religion requires.
The Father isn't calling you to poverty - He's running toward you with the FATTENED CALF, the ROBE of honor, and the RING of authority. Jesus wore a crown of thorns so you could wear a crown of blessing.
