"Asking God for money at my age is selfish when people are starving and missionaries need support."
How it sounds in your head: There are people dying without Jesus. Kids starving. Missionaries barely surviving. And you want to ask for MORE when you've already lived a full life? How selfish. How small. Your needs don't matter compared to theirs.
"And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus."
-- Philippians 4:19Source: religion - False humility and martyr complex teaching that puts everyone else's needs above your own as 'spiritual.'
The church always lifts up sacrificial givers and those who 'go without' for the gospel. Wanting provision for yourself feels greedy and self-focused when the 'real needs' are overseas.
Her creditors were taking her sons as slaves. She had ONLY a jar of oil. Elisha told her to gather empty vessels and POUR—the oil multiplied until EVERY VESSEL was full and she had ENOUGH to pay all debts PLUS live on the rest. God met HER need lavishly, not others first.
I REFUSE the lie that asking for provision is selfish. IT IS WRITTEN: My God supplies ALL MY NEED according to HIS RICHES in glory—infinite supply, not limited resources. Jesus fed 5,000 and had LEFTOVERS. There's always more than enough. IT IS WRITTEN: The widow's oil didn't stop until every vessel was FULL—God meets needs LAVISHLY, not sparingly. My blessing doesn't take from anyone else—it's sourced from HIS GLORY. I'm a son, not a martyr. My Father WANTS to provide for me, and my provision enables me to bless others even MORE. I receive without guilt.
Your Father doesn't pit His kids against each other for scraps—He's the God of 'more than enough.' The prodigal got the fattened calf while the older brother complained about fairness. Your Father isn't rationing blessing—He's CELEBRATING you. Receive. There's plenty.
