"IVF and fertility treatments are me not trusting God - if I had real faith, I'd just pray and conceive."
How it sounds in your head: Some people at church say medical intervention shows lack of faith. Maybe I'm supposed to just pray and wait, not spend thousands on treatments. Am I forcing something God doesn't want, or showing I don't trust Him enough?
"Jesus answered and said to them, 'Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.'"
-- Luke 5:31Religious false dichotomy between faith and medicine, weaponizing trust to create guilt about seeking medical help.
Well-meaning believers quote 'just have faith' and imply medical help indicates spiritual deficiency. Financial cost feels like you're buying what God should give freely.
Deathly ill, prayed desperately, God answered and sent Isaiah with a MEDICAL PRESCRIPTION - apply figs to the boil. Prayer PLUS medicine. Both/and, not either/or. He lived 15 more years.
I REFUSE the lie that medical help shows lack of faith. IT IS WRITTEN: Those who are sick need a physician, and Jesus CELEBRATED that wisdom. God isn't intimidated by fertility doctors - He INVENTED the science they're using. IT IS WRITTEN: Every good gift comes from above, including medical breakthroughs. I can pray fervently AND pursue treatment because faith isn't passivity. The same God who opened wombs supernaturally also gave humans brains to develop reproductive medicine. Both are FROM Him. I'm Abraham's seed, blessed with EVERY spiritual blessing, which includes wisdom to pursue EVERY avenue.
The Father isn't waiting for you to choose between prayer and doctors - He sent both. He's not offended by IVF any more than He's offended by stitches. He's fighting for your breakthrough through EVERY means necessary.
