"I'm not a real woman because I never carried a baby or experienced motherhood fully."
How it sounds in your head: I see mothers with their children and grandchildren, and I'm outside that circle. I never knew what it felt like to carry life inside me, to feel those kicks, to nurse a baby, to hear 'Mama' directed at me. There's a club I was never allowed to join, a fundamental experience of womanhood I was denied. I feel like half a woman.
"There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus."
-- Galatians 3:28World system lie that defines womanhood by biological function, erasing identity in Christ where there is neither male nor female.
Every Mother's Day sermon, every baby shower, every conversation about childbirth and motherhood excluded her. Culture screams that womanhood equals motherhood, so her childlessness feels like being less than fully female.
Anna was widowed after only seven years of marriage (likely childless based on no mention of children) and spent 84 YEARS as a widow serving in the temple. She was chosen to be one of the first to see the Messiah and prophesy about Him—her life WITHOUT biological children made her available for the greatest moment in history.
I REFUSE the lie that my womanhood is defined by my womb. IT IS WRITTEN that in Christ there is neither male nor female—my identity is in HIM, not in biological function. Anna the prophetess was likely childless and widowed for 84 years, yet God chose HER to be among the first to see and proclaim the Messiah—her childlessness positioned her for eternal significance. IT IS WRITTEN in Isaiah 56 that God gives the childless who love Him a name BETTER than sons and daughters—an EVERLASTING name. The BARAK blessing makes me blessed coming in and going out, head and not tail, regardless of whether I bore children. I am COMPLETE in Christ, lacking nothing, crowned with glory. My Father runs toward me calling me DAUGHTER, BELOVED, CHOSEN—never 'incomplete' or 'less than.' I am FULLY woman because I am FULLY His.
Your Father is running toward you with a crown that says 'DAUGHTER—COMPLETE, CHOSEN, CHERISHED' and He's ripping off the world's label that tried to measure your worth by your womb. He's whispering, 'You have always been fully Mine, fully woman, fully purposed—nothing about you is incomplete.'
